How they differ

Both are built-in, cookieless page analytics from a hosting platform. Cloudflare Web Analytics (75) works on any website with one JavaScript beacon, needs no DNS change or Cloudflare proxy, and is a one-click toggle for Cloudflare Pages projects. Vercel Web Analytics (74) works only for sites deployed on Vercel: enable it in the dashboard and add the @vercel/analytics package. Both show page views, referrers, countries and devices; Cloudflare adds real-user Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) in the same dashboard.

What you pay

Cloudflare is free on every plan with no event limit stated: up to 10 sites that are not proxied through Cloudflare, and no site limit for proxied sites. Vercel includes 50,000 events a month on the free Hobby plan with a 1-month reporting window, and collection pauses at the limit. On Pro it costs $0.03 per 1,000 events against your usage credit with a 12-month window, and the Web Analytics Plus add-on ($10/mo per team) extends the window to 24 months and adds UTM parameters.

Events, UTM and history

Cloudflare does not support custom events or UTM parameters yet (it skips query strings on purpose), keeps unsampled data for 7 days before sampling it, and shows six months of history. Vercel has custom events on Pro, UTM on the Plus add-on, and up to 24 months of history if you pay. If you need to know which campaign brought a signup, neither free plan does that.

Ad blockers and data access

Cloudflare documents that ad blockers (Adblock Plus, Brave, DuckDuckGo’s extension and others) block its beacon, so expect undercounts with developer audiences; sites proxied through Cloudflare can also check edge analytics, which can’t be blocked. Cloudflare exposes the data through a GraphQL API. Vercel’s data stays in the Vercel dashboard.

Which to pick

Use the one that matches your host. On Cloudflare Pages or any non-Vercel host, Cloudflare Web Analytics is free and unlimited for basic traffic. On Vercel, Vercel Web Analytics is the zero-setup option until you pass 50,000 events a month. If you need custom events, funnels or UTM reports for free, pick Umami or PostHog instead.

Who wins: Cloudflare Web Analytics or Vercel Web Analytics?

By score, Cloudflare Web Analytics wins Cloudflare Web Analytics vs Vercel Web Analytics at 75/100 vs 74/100. Cloudflare Web Analytics: The cheapest way to get traffic numbers and real-user Core Web Vitals: free, cookieless, one snippet, and a one-click toggle on Cloudflare Pages. It scores below Umami and Plausible because there are no custom events, goals or UTM tracking, data older than 7 days is sampled, ad blockers block the beacon, history stops at six months, and the data lives only in Cloudflare (GraphQL export only). Vercel Web Analytics: The fastest analytics to turn on if you already host on Vercel: one toggle plus one package. Locked to Vercel hosting, short history and no custom events on the free plan, and data lives only in Vercel, so it scores low on ownership. Cloudflare Web Analytics is best for Sites on Cloudflare Pages, or anyone who wants free, unlimited traffic stats and Core Web Vitals without a cookie banner. Vercel Web Analytics is best for Apps already deployed on Vercel that want basic traffic numbers with zero setup.
