Best Email & transactional
Transactional and product email for shipped apps: receipts, resets, onboarding and lifecycle.
Most shipped apps need two kinds of email: transactional (password resets, receipts, magic links) and lifecycle or marketing (onboarding sequences, newsletters). Some tools do one well, some do both. Pick based on which you need first and how many emails you expect to send each month. How to choose

Free tiers compared
Resend gives the most room for transactional email at 3,000 emails a month (100 a day) plus 1,000 marketing contacts. Loops is free up to 1,000 contacts and 4,000 sends per 30 days with Loops branding. Plunk’s hosted plan includes 1,000 emails a month with unlimited contacts, and you can self-host it for free. Mailgun allows 100 emails a day on one sending domain, Postmark 100 emails a month, and SendGrid only offers a one-time 60-day trial. Amazon SES has no permanent free tier.
What 50,000 emails a month costs
On list prices: Amazon SES à la carte is about $5 ($0.10 per 1,000), SendGrid Essentials starts at $19.95, Resend Pro starts at $20, Mailgun Foundation is $35, and Plunk’s pay-as-you-go rate works out to about $50 ($1 per 1,000). SES is cheapest but takes the most setup and suits apps already on AWS.
Transactional, lifecycle, or both
For password resets and receipts from a React or TypeScript app, Resend has the smoothest developer experience in our list, and Postmark has focused on transactional deliverability since 2010. For onboarding and product email that a non-developer can edit, Loops covers lifecycle plus transactional sends in one place. Plunk does both and is open source (AGPL-3.0).
