Best MCP servers

Model Context Protocol servers that plug coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor and Codex into GitHub, browsers, live docs and your backend.

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server gives your coding agent a new set of tools, such as reading library docs, driving a browser, or managing your GitHub repo, database or Stripe account. Start with the one or two that fix your most frequent agent mistake, because every connected server adds tools the agent has to read and choose between. How to choose

How to choose MCP servers

Useful in any stack

GitHub MCP Server (88) lets agents open pull requests, triage issues and debug failing Actions; the hosted remote server is free for all GitHub users and the MIT code can run locally. Playwright MCP (87) from Microsoft drives a real browser through accessibility snapshots, so the agent can click through your app with no vision model; it is free under Apache-2.0 and runs locally with npx. Context7 (86) feeds your agent current, version-specific library docs, with a free plan of 1,000 API calls a month and Pro at $10 per seat.

Servers for the services you already use

If your app runs on Supabase, Neon or Stripe, their official servers let the agent work with your own project. Supabase MCP (84) runs SQL and migrations, checks advisors and generates types over hosted OAuth. Neon MCP (78) creates Postgres branches to test migrations safely. Stripe MCP (80) works with the Stripe API and docs per live account or sandbox. All three are free to connect; you pay only your normal plan or processing fees.

Safety first

Supabase warns about prompt-injection risk and advises against pointing its server at production data, and Neon says its server is for local development, not production. Use read-only mode, project scoping, sandboxes and restricted keys where offered, and keep agents on dev projects.

Newer and niche servers

Pomerado (69) turns websites without APIs into tools for your agent, with a free plan of 100 tool calls a day. Respira (65) lets agents edit WordPress sites with rollback, from €9 a month for one site. GBrain Tools (61) connects your apps to many AI clients without exposing passwords, for $19 a month. Both of those launched on Oct 16, 2026, and both keep your sign-ins on their own service, so you are trusting a young company with account access.
